Several layers of washi papers and Kimono are applied to a bamboo basket. Then later, Kakishibu lacquer (persimmon tannin) is applied to make the basket durable and water-resistant.

Design:

Front side: Using Oshima tsumugi (traditional silk pongee fabric made in Kagoshima) as a base, and put antique Tomesode with crane design from Meiji Era on top. (Tomesode is a formal black silk kimono worn by married women on ceremonial occasions.) 

Back side: Tomesode with iris design on top. 

Side: Crest shaped ancient writing Japanese washi on top. 

Inside: Several layers of thick washi papers

Bag handle: Covered with pieces of Kimono

Bottom: Using leather as bag feet
